Fate of China’s top general more likely to do with power struggle than corruption
Lyle Goldstein, the director of the Asia program at Defense Priorities, a U.S. foreign policy think tank, noted that China had unveiled a suite of powerful new weapons at its military parade in September, a saber-rattling display of bravado.
“I think it would be a major mistake to assume that the Chinese military lacks capable senior officers or that it is less likely to move against Taiwan due to this recent shake-up of the CMC,” he said.
