Trump vows tariffs, Harris blames Xi for hiding COVID in tense debate

Jennifer Kavanagh, director of military analysis at Defense Priorities, said that what stood out was not so much the candidates’ statements but what was not discussed. There were no security questions on China, for instance, and even on Ukraine, neither candidate gave substantial answers, she said … Kavanagh said Harris’ domino theory was a “tired framing” of the problem. “Putin has shown no interest in taking over all of Europe or attacking a NATO country. It’s pretty clear he doesn’t have the military ability,” she said. But Kavanagh also found Trump’s answer equally unsatisfying, because he did not explain how he would solve the war.
