America has nothing to gain from bombing Iran
After the latest round of U.S.-Iran talks in mid-February, Iran’s foreign minister reported progress on a deal that could avert U.S. military strikes. Yet, the U.S. is continuing a massive buildup of military assets in the region that is set to include at least two aircraft carriers, 12 warships, heavy bombers, missile defense systems, and, in just the last week alone, an additional 50 fighter jets.
These moves make a war seem increasingly likely, but it doesn’t have to be inevitable. If Iran is eager to make a deal on its nuclear program, President Trump should take the win and avoid getting the U.S. entangled in another Middle East war. But regardless of whether or not a deal is made, the U.S. should avoid bombing Iran. Here are four reasons why:
