¿Podría Cuba resistir una intervención militar de EE. UU.?

Hoy día, “el presupuesto de Defensa cubano es una sombra de lo que fue durante la Guerra Fría; su Fuerza Aérea es, asimismo, lamentable, y opera al límite de sus capacidades”, apunta, por su parte, Daniel DePetris, investigador del centro de pensamiento estadounidense Defense Priorities.

En su opinión, “derrotar al Ejército cubano no sería el problema”. “El verdadero desafío radicaría en pacificar a un país de 11 millones de habitantes—en medio de una resistencia de carácter insurgente—, al tiempo que se intenta mitigar una crisis de refugiados que podría desbordar las costas de Estados Unidos”, explica DePetris en entrevista con DW.

En caso de un conflicto militar con el Gobierno de Cuba, sería inevitable reforzar la seguridad en torno a Guantánamo, puntualiza DePetris.
