Oil prices have skyrocketed since the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran. Since the war began over two weeks ago, at times the price of oil surpassed $100 a barrel for the first time since 2022. This is in large part due to the major disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway where around 20% of the world’s oil supply travels through.
