Are the U.S. and Israel actively seeking an off-ramp for the Iran war?

Waves of Iranian missiles struck Tel Aviv on Tuesday—the latest in a series of attacks that have penetrated Israel’s air defences. Meanwhile, Iranian missiles and drones have been striking Iraq and countries across the Persian Gulf—despite U.S. and Israeli claims that Iran’s ballistic missile program has been weakened.

The escalation comes as the United States and Iran send conflicting signals about diplomacy. Washington says channels for talks remain open and is pushing for de-escalation. Theran says negotiations can’t move forward while the bombing continues and is demanding concessions before any return to the table. We talk to Ben Friedman, Defense Priorities Policy Director.
