Digital & Social Media Manager

Defense Priorities is seeking a Digital & Social Media Manager to join our communications team. In this role, you will plan and manage digital campaigns to promote our brand, programs, policy positions, and analysis.

This candidate will help establish the digital strategy and lead the day-to-day execution of digital and social media campaigns in support of DEFP’s mission. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring all digital promotions, content, and media campaigns meet the highest quality delivery regardless of medium or platform.

A key position within the communications team, this role reports to the Communications Director. The ideal candidate is a team player with a proven ability to deliver across numerous digital platforms simultaneously. Candidate is current on ever-evolving digital and social media trends and is able to translate DEFP programs and education efforts into the digital and social space.

Primary responsibilities

  • Work with the Communications Director to establish a digital strategy and content plan to support DEFP’s programs

  • Take a lead role in digital content project management

  • Lead the creative development process and execution of digital media campaigns across online platforms, primarily Twitter and YouTube

  • Proficiency in multi-platform paid media campaigns spanning across the digital and social ecosystem

  • Provide timely analytics deliverables to be shared with DEFP leadership

  • Successfully facilitate digital marketing promotions and collaborative efforts across the organization

  • Maintain editorial calendars and communicate deliverable deadlines across program agencies and internal creative teams

  • Work closely with platforms and vendors to identify opportunities for digital promotions

  • Adhere to the highest level of quality assurance standards, including 100% publication accuracy

  • Ensure all factors that govern project success deliver within time, cost, and quality parameters and manage/communicate risk throughout the process

Requirements

Prior experience in the digital and social media space. A fluent understanding of web-based digital content, best practices, and comprehensive ability to project manage content initiatives. Proven production experience. Candidate should have firm understanding of the trends powering today's interactive experiences.

Other requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in digital and social media or proven experience driving a major marketing campaign

  • Experience leading content generation efforts and overseeing digital campaigns

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and to deliver to budget

  • Creative thinker with impeccable communication skills and influence-management skills; can collaborate effectively and efficiently

  • Proactive, organized, efficient, detail-oriented, unassailable focus on the basics, tenacious (persistent about bringing open items to closure), accountable, enthusiastic

  • Ability to balance multiple, competing directions, identify and delegate tasks effectively, and manage multiple projects successfully

  • Sound knowledge of the web, social media, and related technologies; able to explain it to others, advise on the best approach, develop plans for the completion of projects, and execute based on them

  • Availability to work unpredictable hours, as the news cycle dictates

  • Bachelor’s degree required
